San Juan, Puerto Rico, will continue to be served by AirTran Airways, as the airline merges into Southwest Airlines. When the consolidation is complete, Southwest Airlines will then have San Juan, Puerto Rico on its route for the first time.
Southwest Airlines acquired AirTran Airways last year. Southwest plans to convert operations from AirTran Airways to Southwest, at 22 domestic and international airports. In addition to San Juan, Puerto Rico, other domestic cities Southwest will keep are: Akron-Canton, Ohio; Branson, Mo.; Charlotte; Dayton, Ohio; Des Moines; Flint, Mich.; Grand Rapids, Mich.; Key West, Fla.; Memphis; Pensacola, Fla.; Portland, Maine; Richmond, Va.; Rochester, N.Y.; Washington Reagan National; and Wichita, Kansas. The international routes Southwest will keep are: Aruba; Bermuda; Cancún, Mexico; Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

Antonio Banderas To Star In Movie About Castro To Be Filmed In Puerto Rico
It has been reported that, actor Antonio Banderas will play Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, in a movie to be shot in Puerto Rico. The movie is based on Alina Fernández’s biography "Castro’s Daughter: An Exile’s Memory of Cuba."
Filming will take place in Puerto Rico and the movie tells the story of Alina, Castro's daughter, who escaped Cuba and later wrote a book about life in Cuba under the power of Fidel Castro. The movie will be directed by Michael Radford.
Banderas was last seen in "The Skin I Live In" and "Puss In Boots." He also appears in Steven Soderbergh’s "Haywire."

Porta Atlantico Region Of Puerto Rico
Porta Atlantico is the new tourism region along the north coast of Puerto Rico. The region was named by The Puerto Rico Tourism Company, and covers the towns of Camuy, Hatillo, Arecibo, Barceloneta, Manatí, Vega Baja, Vega Alta, Dorado and Toa Alta.
Porta Atlantico will cover the major tourist attractions of the north coast of Puerto Rico: Surfing beaches, the Río Camuy Cave Park, the third-largest cave system in the world, and the Arecibo Observatory, the planet’s largest and most sensitive radio telescope. Porta Atlantico will also cover the Dorado Beach Ritz Carlton Reserve, which opens in December 2012.
Launching a tourism region like Porta Atlantico secures job creation and long-term economic development for the region.
